Kingdom identity
I am a child of God. You are a child of God. It is part of our kingdom identity . We have to know who God is and who we are in order to trust Him.
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.” (John 1:12)
We are a child of the King and belong to His kingdom. A true understanding of the nature and character of God is vital to our walk with the Lord, our relationship with Him and how we represent Him. We must know Him, his identity, before we can walk in our own.
What do you think? What does being a child of God look like to you?
I know a few who have struggled with the Fatherly portion of the nature of God. They are unable to think of God as a father, it is hard to relate to being a child of God. Their circumstances and trauma from their own childhoods made the fatherhood of the Lord, feel like it resembles or even triggers their memory of abuse or abandonment.
How do we overcome and have a good perspective of who Father God is?
It’s fairly simple but also requires surrender.
We ask forgiveness for any offense, bitterness, anger we may hold toward our earthly fathers or father figures. We release them into the hands of the righteous Father. We
We ask the Lord to let us see Him as He really is and not through a broken lens that is affected by someone else’s humanity.
Father, we come to you thanking you that you are a righteous and good Father. We ask that you forgive us, Lord, for holding any offense, bitterness, anger, or unforgiveness in our own hearts toward our earthly father‘s or toward you as our Heavenly Father. We release those in fatherly roles in our lives who have disappointed us, who have caused hurt and trauma, who have rejected or torn us apart….we release them into your hands, Lord, as we know you are a righteous father, and able to do exceedingly abundantly, above, all that we can ask, or think, in their lives. Lord, we pray for restoration for our earthly father’s so that they can be the people that they were created and designed to be. We ask Lord that you give us a clear vision of who you are, and repair the broken lens that we see you through Lord. Help us father to take on our identity as a child of the most high king. Teach us what that looks like Lord, we thank you, Father, that you are the best teacher, and we honor you as our heavenly father in Jesus name amen.
