It Is Impossible for God To Lie

A friend of Mine, David Gereghty shared the scripture from Hebrews 6:18-19 and it reminded me of a time that I was struggling with some hard things and the Lord spoke to me about this particular scripture....God can not lie. I knew I had heard the voice of the Lord whisper His truth to me regarding this particular situation and yet, I wasn’t seeing what the Lord had said would come to pass. We’ve all been there, right? God can not lie. It’s not His nature or character to tell a lie, not even a little white lie to make you feel better.
God can not lie because the moment the words are breathed from His lips, it becomes truth.
Can you imagine looking down from Heaven into pure darkness and the word of the Lord comes forth, “let there be light” and then the light switches on? That my friends is what a Word from the Lord does in our life. It shines the Light on, in and around our situations. His word changes dark to light.
The most important question we need to be able to answer is “What does God say about it?” My feelings do not matter. The Bible plainly says our heart will lie to us. Building on the emotion of our own heart is like building on sand. It’s ever changing and moving and not stable. Having a Word from the Lord to directly speak into our situations gives us the solid foundation, the Rock, to build on. It doesn’t matter what I feel, think or see....the final word is The Word of the Lord.
This is why it’s important for prayer to be a 2 way conversation, so we can hear Him and not let our emotions or our own desires rule our heart. We need a Word from the Lord to stand on. We need to hear his heart so we can partner with Him for His will to be done on Earth as it is in heaven. When we hear Him speak into our stuff, His word gives us something to stand on. It brings truth to our situation and light to our darkness. It gives us vision, Something to run toward and a promise to hold on to. Write those Words down. Read them out loud. Think about them. Remind the Lord of them. Own those Words because the creator of the Universe gave them to you.
God can not lie because His words create. What did not exist before, will exist once the Lord says it. Just as God called out, “let there be light” and there was, God speaks the same Light into your situation and it changes. The moment the words come out of Gods mouth, what was not, now is.....What did not exist, now does. When He speaks ——truth and reality change. What was true yesterday about that thing, that relationship, about you, your future, your kid—-it can all be changed with one Word from the Lord. When we hear what He has to say about “it”, we now have His vision for our situation and can (habukuk 2:2)run with what heaven says about it. (Proverbs 29:18) He gives us the vision of what is coming so in the middle of the chaos, we don’t drop out, So we don’t quit before the finish line.
If you are not in a place where you can hear the Word of the Lord over a situation, find you some folks who can. When Moses had to hold the serpent up to provide a way to victory, he grew weary during the battle (numbers 21) and Aaron and Hur stood next to Him to hold up His arms. Find you an Aaron and a Hur. It is wisdom to know you need the help of someone stronger than you during the weak moments of your life. I can’t tell you how important this has been in my life. My church family and a small group of close friends that I call “The Sieve” have stood and held my arms when I could no longer gather the strength to stand, much less hold up my own arms.
The Bible is full of what I call “waiters”. Abraham, David, Joseph....all had a word from the Lord. They all waited and stood on those Words and each word did come to pass. While you wait, wait with expectation and joy because .....Those that wait upon the Lord Will renew their strength, they will mount up with wings as eagles. They will run and not be weary. They will walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31). That my friends is a Word/Rock to stand on!
