Humility vs Insecurity

Updated: Jul 24

When Samuel met Saul and told him he was going to be king, the first thing Saul did was tell him all the reasons he was unfit to be who God called Him to be. He labeled himself and his tribe as the least. There’s a difference in humility and insecurity.  Humility is knowing you can do nothing without Christ, but with him, there’s nothing you can’t do.

Insecurity is looking at your own ability and discounting his. Insecurity is comparing yourself to others, feeling like you don’t  measure up and allowing those feelings to keep you from becoming all you are created to be. Saul never healed from that. He hated David because of his own insecurity. It cost Saul his calling, his crown and his life. Saul never saw himself as King. He continued to be held back with the mindset of being the least.

Are you holding yourself back? Are you focusing more on your “can’t” than Jesus’ “can”?  You were created for great things. Choose today to take a step in the right direction and ask the Lord to let you see yourself as Jesus sees you. I bet you will be surprised at his answer.
