“And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:” Exodus 33:21-22 KJV
The last few weeks have been stressful. I can feel the stress. I can feel the tension from The weight of the worries. So, I asked the Lord for direction today and He led me to the above scripture. “Behold there is a place by me.”
There is a place and that place is so sweet. I love when He beckons me to come
Close, to be near Him. To drink in His presence. To soak Him up.
But, I just couldn’t shut down my brain and I found myself asking’ “how, how do I get to that place by You?”
I was so Excited by the invitation, I had missed the instruction. “Stand upon the rock”.
I Cor. 10:4 says the Rock is Jesus and John 1 says Jesus is the Word made flesh. You stand on the Rock by the Word of God.
An old worship song came to my heart....When I am overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.
Psalm 61:2 From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
In order to be in that place by the Lord, I must stand on the Rock that is higher than myself. I must find the Words in the scripture to stand on. Words that give Life. Words that offer hope. Words that silence the noise in my brain. Words that shut up the roar, the roar that overpowers the whisper of the Holy Spirit. As I use His scriptures to climb upon the Rock, there is a place where I am hid in the Word and I am able to rest in being by the Lord. Rock of ages cleft for me. Let me Hide thyself in thee.
