Jessie Humphreys Sharp sent me the song, “Never lost” from YouTube with Ms Cici Wigan’s singing it this morning. We were talking about breakthrough for some that are in battles and giving a shout of faith for their “walls” to fall. I had heard this song before, but not this version. Do yourself a favor and listen all the way through. She sings, “I don’t have to wait until the battle is over, I can shout now”. This caused me to think about Jericho. They shouted before the wall fell and before the battle started. They were obedient in shouting BEFORE.
When I began to look at the Israelites’ situation, it is obvious obedience was key, however, there are many things I saw in the process of winning this battle.
1) They took the presence (ark of the covenant) of the Lord and put it in the front. They were not lead by their emotions or how they felt. The presence of God was in the lead.
2) The worshippers surrounded the presence of God. Which was protected with armed men in front of them. They protected the presence of God and protected the worship. We must do both. Protect his presence in us and protect our worship. Our worship isn’t based on our circumstance, our emotions or how we feel. It based on who He is.
3) The Lord told them not to talk. Be silent as they walked. I can only assume that the Lord told them to “shush” so their mouths didn’t speak against what he was doing, so they didn’t complain and destroy the power of their shout.
4)They shouted BEFORE the wall fell. The shout caused the fall AND the victory in the battle that had not yet started. We do not have to wait until the battle is over, we can shout now. The walls are falling and the battle is won.
