Where Are You Seated Today?

Where are you seated today?

God uses the everyday, the mundane, to get my attention. To nudge me along where He needs me to go. I’m good with that and I’m thankful that He loves me enough to do so.

A few weeks ago my car was in the shop for several days. The dealership gave me a car to use while they had mine and I appreciated it as I’m in my car for several hours a day with work. After the first day of riding around in the car, I started to hurt. My back hurt, my knees hurt, my shoulders hurt…..I couldn’t figure it out. The next day, within a few hours of being in the car, I was hurting worse. I stopped and bought some Aleve, praying to make it through the day and be able to make it to Franklin the next morning. I went to Franklin the next morning, my back, knees and arms felt better almost immediately. But then, a few hours later, the pain was back….it finally dawned on me, it was the seats in the car that I was sitting on that was causing the issue. My car has to go back in the shop in a few weeks for a couple of things and I was thinking about that this morning. I am already hating the thoughts of it, because although the seats in the loaner car are comfortable and they feel good when you sit in them, they cause me pain….I heard the Spirit whisper, where are you seated today?

Exodus 17:12: But Moses’ hands were heavy. Then they took a STONE and put it under him, and he SAT on it; and Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side and one on the other. Thus his hands were steady until the sun set.

Acts 4:11 This is the STONE (Jesus) which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

I Cor 10:4……for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

We can stay where we are in our journey, seated comfortably in a plush seat, one that feels good, one that seems to be providing us with what we want, or we can choose to be seated upon the stone, the ROCK, Jesus Christ. It isn’t always comfortable, it isn’t always easy, it doesn’t always feel good. When you choose to be seated upon the rock, there’s things that have to go….pride, selfishness, religion, self serving attitudes, hurt feelings, anger, malice, unforgiveness, bitterness…..but when you are seated there, upon the ROCK, you don’t hurt at the end of the day. Being comfortable doesn’t mean you are seated where you should be…..

I like my car, honestly, probably more than I should. The seats are one of the reasons I chose it. They aren’t plush and they don’t feel overly comfortable when you sit in them…..But they don’t cause me pain at the end of the day.

My prayer today is that I choose The ROCK, Jesus Christ, to be seated on everyday, every time, not because it’s comfortable, but because it’s what’s best for me…..because when I choose to be seated in Christ, there will always be others around to hold up my hands when I can not, when I am sitting I am resting in Him, and there’s no better place to be seated….
