What If?

ree

Ever wonder what would have happened if David had walked away and never fought Goliath? What if Peter had stayed on the boat and not answered the "Saviors" call to be a disciple? What if Moses said he was tired after the 5th plague and went back to the farm?

How important is our obedience? How important is it for us to be about the business of the kingdom? Are we altering the future and the kingdom of God (positively or negatively) by our actions (or inaction)?

I believe the Lord is looking for people to partner with to accomplish His kingdom in the Earth. I Corinthians 3:9 says we labour with the Lord. (We partner with the Lord, read that again! The creator of the universe partners with us to accomplish big things!!) God has a part and WE have a part.

God wanted to defeat the Philistine army but He needed a partner brave enough to face the giant. God wanted to set the Israelites free from their slavery but He needed a partner willing to contend for that. He needed someone willing to go to Pharaoh and say “I am has sent me”. God wanted to heal the man who laid at the gate of beautiful but He needed a partner willing to speak the words of healing over him.

Here’s the thing with Moses, David and Peter....they were each just living life through relationship with the Father. Each of their historical moments was birthed from relationship. When relationship with our Poppa is our priority, everything else will flow from that. That’s when our ordinary becomes extraordinary and we get to partner with the creator of the universe to set people free, take down some giants, heal people and alter history.

You see corruption in the systems around you? Ask the Lord, what are we going to do about this?

You are angry about pedophile rings? SO IS GOD! Ask Him, Lord what are we going to do about this? You see racism as an issue? Ask the Lord, what are we going to do about this?

So often I hear “why would the Lord allow that? If God is so good, why is “that” happening”. My answer is that sometimes, the David is missing from the picture. Sometimes the Moses or the Peter is missing from the situation. Sometimes, It isn’t that God is allowing it to happen at all, it is that He is looking for a partner to fix the problem and “YOU” are what’s missing. What’s your part in the partnership?

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn.” (Isaiah 61:1-2).
